A Busy Festive Period at RMS

The Most Wonderful - and Busiest - Time of the Year!

Christmas certainly is the most wonderful time of the year.  And for our retail partners, who are now in the middle of their Golden Quarter, it is by far their busiest time of year. A good Christmas makes the difference between a terrible year and a brilliant year – it’s that important to the retail world!

So naturally, it’s also a very busy time for the whole team here at RMS.  We pride ourselves on the first-class support that we provide to our retail partners, and this is the crucial time where they rely on us the most.  Whether it’s making sure that freezers are full of turkeys, shelves are stacked with festive treats and displays are continuously replenished, our skilled merchandising teams are there to ensure that every sales opportunity is maximised.

As we have done in December for many years, we’ve taken on extremely large, ambitious merchandising projects, but given our resourcing capabilities, coupled with our revolutionary scheduling technology, flex, it’s nothing that we can’t handle.

Over the course of this month, we are supporting our retail partners in hundreds of locations across the UK.  To achieve this, we are supplying thousands of “flexers” right across the country. Together, in two weeks, they will deliver what would take a single worker over 50 years to achieve! 

Supporting our skilled merchandising teams in the field will be a dedicated group of cluster managers who will report back to our project team in our support centre.  Transparency and communication with our retail partners is key to our success and this has been made even more effective since we started to use flex to schedule and manage our merchandising projects. 

Over the last 12 months, we have been busy developing the myflex app which is being used to deliver the Festive project for Tesco.  The app allows our merchandising teams to check-in and out of their shifts using their smart phone.  Not only does this allow their time to be recorded accurately for payroll purposes, it also provides Tesco with complete visibility of the number of shifts that have been worked.

However, our success is based on the extraordinary levels of teamwork that RMS is capable of. Christmas, at its very core, is about family coming together, so the projects we’re completing this December is perhaps the best way of all to show what the #RMSFamily is capable of.
