On Thursday 15th August 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual RMS charity golf day - The Peter John O’Toole Cup. This year, we returned to The Vale Resort, and the day was a huge success.
We were absolutely thrilled by the turn out and so pleased by the overwhelmingly positive feedback from all who attended. Once again, we extend a massive thanks to everyone who participated and helped to make the day a special occasion to remember!
Supporting a Worthy Cause
As with previous years, the primary aim of the day was to raise funds for a cause close to our hearts: The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Wales. This organisation continues to do outstanding work, empowering young people across Wales.
We are thrilled to share that we raised over £8,000 for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Wales. A special mention goes to Ffion, a DofE ambassador, who captivated a packed crowd with her inspiring story - an unforgettable highlight of the day.
The event also serves as a tribute to RMS’s founder, Peter, and his father, John - both of whom were taken too soon by cancer. It’s a day to celebrate these remarkable men who, though their lives were cut short, lived with immense passion and purpose.
The Event
This year, the PJO Cup brought together 21 teams of four, with players from a diverse range of companies, including our valued customers, suppliers, and friends of RMS.
The event was once again held on the stunning National course at The Vale Resort, with teams competing in the ever-popular Texas Scramble format.
A Day to Remember
The day began with breakfast rolls to fuel the players for the day of play ahead. We were then treated to an extraordinary performance by former World Golf Trick Shot Champion, Geoff Swain, whose demonstration left everyone in awe.
At 11am, the teams headed to their starting holes for the shotgun start, and the day officially kicked off! Throughout the day, our fantastic volunteers ensured everyone stayed refreshed by driving around in the booze buggies, offering much-needed drinks.
After a day of friendly competition on the course, all teams returned to the clubhouse to unwind with some food and drinks. The evening was made even more special by the presence of rugby legend Jonathan Davies who joined us for a unique Q&A session and gave us all a little taster of what's to come in his testimonial events over the next 6 months.
Announcing the Winners
Congratulations to Connah O’Toole, Geoff Swain, Scott Quinnell and Tom Howells who claimed team victory in the 2024 Peter John O’Toole Cup!
They came in with a net score of 16.6 under par. Connah was thrilled as it made for an even more momentous occasion taking the win as it was the first year with his 8 month old son, Tommy Peter O'Toole.
