On Thursday 17th August 2023 we hosted our annual RMS charity golf day - The Peter John O’Toole Cup. This year's event was held at The Vale Resort and it was a really incredible day.
All the hard work planning and organising over the summer months paid off and we were totally overwhelmed with the success and positive feedback. Yet again, the day proved to be a big hit with those attending so thank you to everyone that came along!
As in previous years, the day is all in aid of raising money for an extremely worthy cause, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Wales, an organisation which does incredible work supporting young people all over Wales.
It’s also an event in memory of RMS’s founder, Peter, and his father, John - both passing before their time, due to cancer. This day is one of celebrating these great men who, whilst cut short, lived their lives to the full.
With 22 teams of 4 from a wide range of different companies including customers, suppliers and friends of RMS, the PJO Cup was once again held on the beautiful championship course, the National at The Vale Resort using the ever popular Texas Scramble format.
This year we managed to raise £7,000 for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Wales.
Event Recap
We started the day with a bacon bap to fuel the players for the busy day ahead on the course.
We were then treated to a brilliant performance by the former World Golf Trick Shot Champion, Geoff Swain, with an incredible demo.
The teams then all made their way to their starting hole ready for the 11am shotgun start and after that, the day was well underway!
We had several friends and family members volunteering and driving round on the booze buggies to offer some well needed refreshments to the players out on the course all day.
After a great day of golf (or not depending on how well you played!) all the teams returned to the club house to enjoy some drinks and food; whilst being joined by some very special rugby legends.
Sean Holley facilitated a unique golf-come-rugby Q&A with a panel of panels! With Geoff giving his insight on the tour and golf’s greatest competition on the horizon - the Ryder Cup; and Jiffy and Rob Jones, giving us some appreciation for the preparation that goes into the Rugby World Cup and what teams were tipped to come out on top. (Even against the recent form, they all said to watch out for New Zealand and South Africa!)
Winners!
The winning team of the 2023 Peter John O’Toole Cup was Team Tregaron Titans. Congratulations to Rhydian Garner, Llyr Garner, Steffan Edwards and Ceri Richards who pipped the best gross scoring team (11Under!) (Dan O’Toole, Jiffy, Sean Holley & Stuart Davies) by 0.3 points to win with a net of 56.6points!

Thank you to our generous sponsors for making the day such a huge success, we couldn’t have done it without you!
